I'm currently pursuing my bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering at Florida International University. I work as a mentor to peers there, and also teach freshman classes. I really enjoy teaching, and aiding students as they come to understand ideas and connections that they once found too hard. I like to get to know my tutoring students, so that I can make subjects interesting to them specifically, given their personal interests and passions. I participate in a number of activities linked to school but not part of my degree, including a number of societies focused on engineering, such as the Society for Women in Engineering and Toastmasters. I even belong to an archery club. My studies have led me to study some very complex math, so I have developed a number of tricks to get around doing problems in the most complex way, and I enjoy sharing those with students. For me, math has always been pretty easy, but I know that many people face great difficulties learning math. I take pride in my students as they develop confidence in their math abilities. Success breeds success, and each step leads to the next one, until they realize, just maybe, they are good at math!
